Turnkey Coastal Renovation, Clearwater, FL
For this Denver-based family, our Northern Virginia interior design studio was entrusted with a complete gut renovation of their Clearwater Beach residence, transforming a dated 1980s interior into a light, bright, and family-friendly coastal retreat. As a second warm-weather home designed for a growing family with children and grandchildren, the vision centered on creating a relaxed, welcoming environment rooted in blues and sand tones with a clean, modern beach aesthetic.

The clients were specifically seeking a team with both design and construction experience to fully manage the project from start to finish. With no plans to return to Clearwater during the renovation, they relied on us to deliver a seamless, turnkey experience, overseeing every detail from demolition to final installation.
The home was taken down to the studs and thoughtfully rebuilt to reflect both elevated design and everyday functionality. Throughout the home, a cohesive palette of soft blues, warm neutrals, and sandy tones reinforces a relaxed coastal sensibility, while layered textures and tailored furnishings bring comfort and livability suited for a multi-generational retreat.
Bedrooms were designed as calm, restorative spaces, with light, airy materials and a subtle coastal influence that feels both refined and relaxed. Bathrooms were designed to feel clean, functional, and thoughtfully elevated, incorporating thoughtful storage, refined finishes, and Kohler smart toilets for added comfort and convenience.
In the kitchen, the focus was on high-performance living with organized, efficient layouts, good lighting, and premium appliances. It features Miele appliances, including double-wall ovens and convection cooking, along with integrated details such as pop-up outlets in the island. While we significantly enlarged the kitchen, existing plumbing locations within the slab created challenges for the island layout. Through careful planning and creative solutions, we were able to expand the island and discreetly work around these constraints without compromising the overall design.
Lighting presented another key challenge throughout the home. With little to no overhead lighting and a concrete ceiling just above the drywall, we introduced a dropped ceiling detail in the main living areas to allow for recessed lighting in the living and dining rooms. This intervention brought both function and warmth to spaces that previously lacked adequate illumination.
The result is a fully realized coastal home that feels effortless and inviting, designed to support both quiet retreats and lively family gatherings. Every detail was carefully considered to create a space that is not only beautiful but also functional, livable, and ready to be enjoyed from the moment the clients arrive.
